A Desert Rose
The cool crisp nights sand ship ride to Totra was a cruel jest to the days heat. Dowsing clothing and sheets into the cool water and draping ourselves with them was all we could do trying to not go into a heat madness, with Flint bending air for a slight breeze and a other wise uncharacteristically quite Meridian putting some humidity into the air I never thought I would be so happy to be traveling with benders.
While on the sand ship tryin to pass some time I chatted up some fellow travelers Mr and Mrs. Smith weathly merchants from my home country Cheliax and there beautiful daughter Rose, ahh Rose with all of the beauty the name implies and the grace to back it up. Also, I think there was a son… Junior or something.
Later that night while Flint was sleeping I heard what sounded like some one messing around with the door handle, Jew Ra opening the door and walking outside as to be seen and to be observed as being casual walked around the hall and out on to the main deck to see if he could spot anyone acting out of sort.
During the heat of the next day Flint went to take care of the animals and remembered he had a Lemur and tried to feed it the rapidly spoiling milk. I think Flint is new to dairy I debated telling him of the dangers but I figure some lessons must be learned on their own.
Bumping into Rose later that day she admitted to me that she was tryingn to slip me a note last night but embarrasedly ran away when Jew Ra opened the door, so at that point handed me the note and then took off down the hallway to let the pinkness leave from her cheeks. Following the request of the note I met Rose atop of the ship, for some reason Flint decided to try and quietly follow me to the midnight meeting, (I should really point out to Flint he is not as quiet as he thinks… I should probably do this before it gets him killed.) Rose and I talked and laughed for hours until worried her father would notice her absence. Upon returning to the room Flint's reason to follow me tonight became appearant when Jew Ra started complaining about my talking with Rose and how a Woman as lovely and honest and kind and giving and smart and funny and awesome could ever be a threat to us is beyond me, I think Jew Ra might need some love in his life time in the military has not only hardened his muscles but his heart as well.
Arriving in Totra we quickly unloaded the Cat statues to the merchants guild for more than I thought we would get everyone seemed happy with the portion they recieved of 1500 gold each.
Deciding to take a week off and stay at a local resort I took a day trip and bought a new rare master crafted bow and a fine bottle of brandy for Bingo (the man working at the Merchants guild) as a thank you for his help in completeing our deal.
Jew Ra looked over the city and opened his first bank account with the Merchants guild I am sure he is looking to get more gambling in while he can. Flint did not do much as I think the milk traveling through the desert heat may have finally gotten to him.
I found 3 more potential jobs to complete though one would take us to Port Peril to save people from a slavery ring. I think this might be the best move for us.
