The races of terra

the following is a summary of the four races of Terra, with links to the detail pages for each of the four races. For a list of all the races, see Races of the Galaxy

Baumeni

The baumeni are a mysterious race, deeply connected to the forests they inhabit. In love with nature and beauty, they watch over and care for life within the forests. They are light-hearted creature who live long lives, largely isolated from the political turnings of the world at large

Physical Description
Baumeni are similar in stature and form to Humans, except that they have bark like skin, and vine like hair. Their bodies are slender, belying their impressive strength. They have no gender, and usually live between 400 to 1200 years

Relations
Baumeni are on good terms with all races, though some baumeni harbor a mild distrust of Humans. They have a long history of peaceful relations with the carragh, seeing them as brothers, or perhaps distant cousins. They have a fondness for the ulfar and care for them whenever their journey's take them into the forests of the world

Adventurers
A baumeni adventurer is a relatively rare sight, but they are a common enough sight in cities and on highways. Young baumeni often travel the world as an unofficial rite of passage into adult-hood, that they might be well rounded and wise in their guardianship of the world's creatures. Older baumeni will usually travel at least once a century to ensure that the world's ecosystems are in balance

Racial Traits

Carragh

The carragh are a strong and determined race, having a reputation for being brash and stubborn. In truth, their communities and personalities are as diverse as stones of the earth. Carragh inhabit the mountains, caves, and canyons of the world, organizing into small, tight-knit clans. They are dedicated to its honor and survival

Physical Description
Carragh are similar in stature and form to Humans, except that their bodies consist of stone and are on average larger than Humans. They have a mossy growth on their shoulders and jaw which resembles human hair. Carragh, like the baumeni, are genderless. They usually live about 300 years but have been known to live much longer

Relations
The carragh hold a deep respect for the baumeni, with a long history of peaceful relations. Their history with humans is strained but they generally approach humans as individuals, not as a whole. Their reaction to ulfar is usually bemusement, and their history with the ulfar is free of conflict

Adventurers
Carragh that stray from the mountains are usually part of a nomadic cloch, though some do venture out on their own. Clans will often send their most charismatic as diplomats to neighboring communities. Orphaned carragh are often warmly welcomed into any clan they encounter, but an exiled carragh is often not welcome in other clans

Humans

The human race is the most physically diverse species on terra, and it also runs the gamut in terms of personality, morality, and lifestyle. Collectively they possess a strong will to survive and expand, which accounts for their numbers, making them the most populous race

Physical Description
Humans have a wide array of appearances. Their skin color, body type, facial features vary greatly even within a small society. Humans usually live between 90 and 120 years

Relations
A group as large and diverse as humanity is hard to summarize, but in general they hold good relationships with the other races. Historically they clash most often with the carragh, when mining and mountain explorations encroach on a clan's territory

Adventurers
Adventuring humans are a common sight, and they are driven by many reasons, from greed to wanderlust to the aspiration to join the heroes of legend
