Talent Trees

The Talent Trees allow you to customize your character by choosing different abilities as your character advances.

Talent Template

Name - Action (Segment Resolution)
Requires: List of level or talents required to put points into this talent
Description: A description of the talent, how to use it, and its effects
Range: The range
Effect: The effect of the talent, or the targets you may select.
Element: The elemental requirements to use this talent
Offensive: The formula for your score while using this move offensively
Defensive: The formula for your score while using this move defensively
Cooldown: After using an ability that has a cooldown, you must wait a certain number of rounds before using the ability again. The next round counts as the first round of the cooldown. Example: 1d6 rounds, roll a d6 and wait a number or rounds equal to the result before using the move again.
Special: Any modifications to the talent or special requirements
Additional Points: This section outlines what benefits you get from putting additional talent points into this talent.

Segment resolution follows the following syntax:
1|2 means the action can be resolved in whichever segment it is used
1-2 means that the action is a full action and is resolved in both segments
A single number denotes that the action must be resolved in that segment
If a move has more than one action option, actions are separated by a comma

About Talents

In order to put your first point into a talent you must meet all the requirements. Once you have put the first point into a talent, you are then eligible to put additional points into that talent, provided you meet any requirements the additional points require. Additional points must be placed sequentially, regardless of whether or not there are requirements.

You gain 4 talent points when you first create your character, and another 4 points each time you level up. Additionally, you gain 3 extra talent points at level 4, which symbolizes the end of your “in training” status. You gain an additional 5 extra talent points at level 12, which symbolizes your status as a “Master Elementalist”.

You may not place more than two points into a talent at any given level. You may save talent points if you wish, but any points not spent before your next level are 'carried over' and these points may not be used to exceed the “2 points per level” restriction.

The GM can consider giving players extra talent points as rewards for completing tasks or excellent roleplay, but should refrain from awarding more than 5-8 points to a single player.
