History

The history of present day Gerth stretches back to the ancient kingdom of Shak'tar, founded in the Stone Age by the people who were born into the Flaithiuil forest. They would expand their territory to the west beyond the border of the forests until they encountered Tael'Reshk, which was expanding to the north at the time. Tael'Reshk would conquer Shak'tar, but its people would retain their cultural identity, and the southern region would split and form Cnahk'tah. These two nations would later form an alliance

Gerth'Jhaa was born when the coastal regions of Reshk'tar seceded. These coastal regions, like Cnahk'tah were the cultural and physical ancestors of the Shak'tar, while the western portions of Reshk'tar were ancestor to the Tael'Reshk. As Reshk'tar made advances against the Kalmar, these regions seceded peacefully and the two ancient peoples formed separate kingdoms

In the Age of Honor, Gerth'Jhaa was not to be outdone by the other kingdom's efforts to build cultural landmarks, deciding to create feats of engineering instead of massive structures. They built large waterwheels along the coast where the rivers fall over the cliffs into the Thoir sea. These wheels brought advances in mechanical engineering and also prestige, and several of the wheels still exist to this day, almost 13 million years later

The two splinter kingdoms, Cnehk'tah in the south and Gerth'Jhaa in the north, would form a single kingdom, Gerth'tah, during the age of blood, as a move to consolidate power in hopes of avoiding a suspected takeover by the dominant houses in Reishk'tar, a current ally to both kingdoms. The resulting kingdom of Gerth'tah would join Reishk'tar in the Aimsir Alliance against the growing power of the western kingdoms. After the blood wars ended, the kingdom of Gerth'tah would become the nation of Gerth, which persists to the present day
