Ean is essentially little more than a fortress, though it has a small port and enough housing to cover the merchants and militia that keep the fortress and the ports running. Some of the trade goods will continue on via the coastal road. The people of Ean are welcoming to travelers and sailors, but unflinchingly intolerant of unlawfulness, even tavern brawls. The standing militia also operates a small fleet that patrols the western and southern shores of the continent. The organized nature of the city and its military element is somewhat atypical of Naer
