Rules governing Advent classes

A Trident in the flesh is a rare sight in the galaxy, but their reputation tends to proceed them. Their presence is simultaneously serene and intimidating, reeking of raw power. Tridents follow the Path of Rudran, the Roaring Sura, following the flow of the galaxy. Like Rudran himself, Tridents are not satified to simply float along with the galactic currents, instead charging ahead with gusto. Tridents tend to be free spirits, unbound by the shackles of the civilized world

Tridents are capable of forming a ki bond with non-rational creatures, or bonding with created avatars of ki energy. The bond they create allows them to function as a cohesive unit with these creatures. Tridents develop this coordination until they can operate as a single mind

Some Tridents adopt Rudran's appearance, decorating themselves with simple cloth and feathers of grey, brown, and white, with a red scarf. Many Tridents don the red scarf of Rudran. For his part, Rudran does not pay humanoids much mind, but does seem to regard the Tridents as kindred spirits. Tridents believe Rudran protects them from death and harm, a claim that would account for their inexplicable survivability

Talent details

Bond

Action: Standard
Requires: No requirements
Jing: Neutral
Description: You form two bonds, one of positive jing (black) and one of negative jing (white). These bonds allow you to form a strong connection with animals, or to create avatars of pure ki energy which take the shape of an animal. The avatars are made up of swirling, smoke-like energy, which is black or white in color depending on which jing was used to create the avatar. Bonded animals surge with ki energy which appears like evaporating steam pouring off their bodies. The creatures are known as Bonds, while the Trident and their Bonds are collectively and individually known as a Triad
Range: 30 feet
Speed: 6H
Effect: Bond with target non-rational creature
Bond: Resolve vs Resolve Ability Check
Cooldown: 6 rounds
Special: If you fail to bond with a creature, you may not attempt the bond with that creature again
Jing: A trident's personal Jing is set by the jing type of last ability they used. When attempting an ability with a jing type that is different from their personal jing, they may add 1d6 to any formula associated with that ability

□ Increase the speed of your bond's attacks by 1H. Maximum speed is 9H

Bond - creature stats

When you form a bond with a creature, or when you create an avatar of ki, they become one of the triad. Use the following formulas to determine a bond's stats
Offensive: Attack Bonus + Dex + 6d6
Defensive: Defense Bonus + Dex + 6d6
Damage: Str x 2 + 6d6
Hit Points: Res x 8 + 20d6
Range: 5 feet
Speed: 4H (4 hexes per segment)
Base Move Speed: 30 feet


Affinity

Action: Standard
Requires: Bond
Jing: Neutral
Description: Your connection to Rudran allows you to communicate with creatures that do not have language skills
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: You are capable of rudimentary communication with target animal you can see
Special: The communication is similar to telepathy. An animal's ability to communicate coherently depends on its Intelligence. Animals with a intelligence of 1 or lower can only express simple emotional states. Animals with a 2 are capable of more complex ideas. Animals with a 3 or higher are able to freely converse with you but their understanding of human concepts may be limited

Burst

Action: Standard
Requires: Stasis
Jing: Positive
Description: You and your bonds use your ki to create a burst of ki energy that damages targets between the three of you
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: Deal damage to the triangular area between each member of the triad
Damage: Strength x 4 + 6d6 [Ki]
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

□ Extend the range by 5 feet. Maximum range is 60 feet

Converge

Jing: Neutral
Description: You are able to teleport each member of the triad to one member's current location
Range: 30 feet
Speed: 3H
Effect: All three members of the triad teleport to target member's location
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

□ Reduce the required action by one level. Minimum action is Swift
□ Extend the range by 5 feet. Maximum range is 60 feet
□ Increase the speed by 1H. Maximum speed is 6H

Displacement

Action: Standard
Requires: Vault
Jing: Neutral
Description: You learn to swap locations with your Bonds
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: You take the place of one of your bonded creatures. That creature teleports to the location of your other bonded creature, which teleports to your original location
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

Instinct

Action: Passive, Swift
Requires: Synergy
Jing: Negative
Description: The triad bond strengthens your connection to the natural world, and grants you an uncanny ability to conceal your tracks
Effect: You gain a 1d6 bonus to Wilderness Survival
Cooldown: Once per day
Special: Once per day as a Swift action you may roll a Wilderness Survival check at advantage

□□ Increase the uses of advantage per day by 1. Maximum uses per day is 3

Description: You form a ki link between you and your bonded creatures that allows you to divert damage away from a weaker member of the triad
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: Diverts incoming damage evenly between the other two creatures in the triad
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

Lunge

Action: Swift
Requires: Bond
Jing: Positive or Negative
Description: Using the stabilizing balance between the triad as a foundation, you and your bonds can leap forward when attacking
Speed: 2H
Effect: When you or one of your bonded creatures makes an attack, that creature may also move 10 feet
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: If this using this ability moves the creature towards the target of the attack, this ability uses Positive jing, otherwise it uses Negative jing

□ Reduce the cooldown by 1 round. Minimum cooldown is 1 round


Slingshot

Action: Standard
Requires: Lunge
Jing: Positive or Negative
Description: Using the stabilizing balance of the triad bond as a foundation and working in concert, the triad can shift their locations
Range: 30 feet
Speed: 3H
Effect: One or two members of the triad shift themselves 30 feet forward or backwards
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: This ability may be used positively or negatively. When used positively, one member of the triad moves toward (and past) the midpoint of the line connecting the other two members. When used negatively, two members both move in the direction that moves them toward the third, without moving any closer to each other. Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

□ Increase the speed by 1H. Maximum speed is 12H
□ Increase the distance moved by 5 feet. Maximum distance is 60 feet

Stasis

Action: Full
Requires: Bond
Jing: Positive
Description: In a massive burst of ki energy, the triads create a stasis field between themselves, temporarily stopping time
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: Time stops in the plane between the three members of the triad for one segment
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: Time stops in the plane, and in 5 feet upwards and downwards, making the depth of the field 15 feet. Time also stops for the triads. If the triads are moving, then the field also moves. Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability

□ Extend the range by 5 feet. Maximum range is 60 feet
□ Reduce the cooldown by 1 round. Minimum cooldown is 6 rounds


Surge

Action: Swift
Requires: Bond
Jing: Neutral
Description: A quick burst of movement brings the triad back into balance
Speed: Your Dash Speed
Effect: Each member of the triad dashes in any direction
Cooldown: 12 rounds

Sympathic

Action: Passive, Swift
Requires: Link
Jing: Neutral
Description: Your triad bond gives you a unique connection to animals
Range: Self
Effect: You gain a 1d6 bonus to Animal handling
Cooldown: Once per day
Special: Once per day as a Swift action you may take advantage on an animal handling check. You must declare the re-roll before the results of the check are known
Talent Point Improvements:

□ Increase the bonus by 1d6. Maximum bonus is 3d6
□□□ Increase the uses per day by 1. Maximum uses per day is 3


Sync

Action: Move
Requires: Bond
Jing: Positive, Neutral, or Negative
Description: The Trident and their bonds coordinate their movements, enhancing the effectiveness of their combat maneuvers
Range: Self
Effect: Each triad gains a 1d6 bonus to manuevers
Cooldown: 12 rounds
Special: This ability can be used positively, neutrally, or negatively. When used offensively, its jing is positive. When used defensively, its jing is negative. In rare cases where only neutral actions occur, its jing is neutral

Synergy

Action: Full
Requires: Bond
Jing: Negative
Description: Using your trident bond, you close your eyes and see through the eyes of one of your triads
Range: 30 feet
Speed: Instant
Effect: You see through the eyes of the target triad for one minute
Cooldown: Once per day
Special: While in this state, your regular sight does not function. Sight is the only sense shared with you. If you open your eyes, the link is lost. Alternatively, you may also create a link between your triads
Talent Point Improvements:
□ Reduce the required action by one level. Minimum action is Swift
□ Extend the range by 10 feet
□ Extend the duration by 1 minute
□□□ Increase the uses per day by 1. Maximum uses per day is 3


Vault

Action: Swift
Requires: Bond
Jing: Nuetral
Description: When a trident or their bonds come in contact with each other, balance is immediately and violently restored. This phenomenon can be harnessed to increase the triad's general mobility
Range: 30 feet
Speed: 2H
Effect: When a bond or a trident crosses paths with one of their triad, they gain an immediate 10 foot boost of movement in any direction
Cooldown: 6 rounds
Special: Each member of the triad must be within range of each other in order to use this ability
